Then comes the pressure washing. Gets rid of all the dirt and old loose paint. After that dries out, we do repairs where needed and get the surface smooth. Primer goes on next because paint needs something to grip onto properly.
The actual painting usually takes a few days depending on your house size. We do multiple coats – rushing through with one coat is asking for problems down the road. While we’re working, everything gets covered. Your plants, walkways, anything that shouldn’t have paint on it gets protected.
We handle pretty much everything on a house exterior. Stucco is huge around here, and it needs specific paints that can flex with the material. Regular paint on stucco? You’ll see cracks within a couple years.
Wood siding, fiber cement, trim around windows and doors – each one’s a bit different. Doors get a lot of use, so the paint there needs to be tough. Same with railings that people actually touch. Decks and fences are outdoor wood, so they need products made for that.
The thing is, you can’t paint everything the same way. What works great on smooth wood trim won’t necessarily be right for textured stucco.
We stick with proven paint brands. The cheap stuff might save money upfront, but you’ll be repainting in 5 years instead of 15. That’s not a good deal.
California sun is intense. Paints need UV blockers or colors fade fast. They also need to handle our temperature changes without cracking. The acrylic paints we use do both. For stucco, sometimes we go with elastomeric – it’s thicker and moves with the surface.
Moisture protection matters too, even here where rain isn’t constant. Morning dew, occasional storms – your paint needs to handle it without peeling or getting mildew.

Most houses take about a week, give or take. Bigger homes or ones needing extra prep take longer. Weather affects timing too since we won’t paint in bad conditions.
Spring and fall are ideal, but honestly we paint year-round here. Summer works if we time it right to avoid the hottest parts of the day. Winter’s fine too, just takes a bit longer to dry.
Quality work with good paint should give you 10-15 years. South-facing walls might need touch-ups sooner because they get the most sun exposure.

Everything gets covered and protected. We’re careful around plants and always clean up completely before we leave.
Mike was just wonderful to work with. He got in touch with me right away and we had a time to meet so he could give me an estimate. After meeting him even though I had one or two more people to meet I already knew I was going to go with him. Not only did he paint four rooms (two large rooms and three small rooms) in record time (two days!) but he also was able to patch a few places on the walls that needing filling and repairing. There were a couple things I threw on last minute to see if he could do, and he was able to work them in the same timeframe. I know he worked so hard and gave us a really beautiful outcome.
